Where it's my goal to simplify the options trading process via education and comprehensive stock options services such as options screening software for traders of all levels. Proper portfolio construction and optimal risk management is essential when engaging in options trading to drive portfolio results. Managing a long-term successful options-based portfolio requires a risk tolerance balance between cash, long equity and options. An options-based portfolio only utilizes risk-defined trades via put spreads, call spreads and iron condors targeting high implied volatility (IV Rank) environments. All these trade types can be easily identified using the options screening software. This holistic options-based portfolio can be followed by subscribing to one of the options trading services.
Leveraging risk-defined trades (put spreads, call spreads and iron condors) and implied volatility rank (IV Rank), one can leverage a minimal amount of capital and maximize return on investment. Options can serve as a valuable component to an overall investment strategy. Option portfolio management is a holistic portfolio approach that balances options, long-term stock positions and cash on-hand. Balancing all three of these components is essential for long-term success in options and whole portfolio returns.
The foundation of options trading comes down to following a set of 10 option trading rules, which is essential for long-term success in options trading.
Did you know that a staggering 92% of actively managed funds do not outperform their benchmark over 5, 10 and 15 year time horizons? Interestingly, over a ~25 year time period from 1983-2006, 39% of stocks in the Russell 3000, comprising the largest 3000 companies in the U.S., were unprofitable investments while 64% of stocks underperformed the index. Shockingly, only 25% of stocks were responsible for all the market’s gains from this ~25 year period! Taken together, investors only have a 36% chance of picking a winning stock that may or may not outperform the broader index. Options trading can provide a statistical edge in trading that individual stock investing simply can't offer.
To this end, I created Stock Options Dad LLC - A Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) firm to simplify options trading via education and stock options trading services. My aim is to empower and educate investors on how to leverage options trading as a component of an overall investment strategy. Here, you can find free content via active blog posts, videos and specific website sections that cover all aspects of options trading.
